salton sea
Collection of images from the haunting beauty that is the Salton Sea. Located below sea level, the Salton Sea lies directly on the San Andreas Fault and was created by a dike failure in 1905. No natural outflows and the effects of pollution has created an environmental disaster. Once considered the Riveria of the California, the cities (Bombay Beach, North Lake, Salton City) surrounding the Salton Sea have been abandoned in large numbers, leaving remnants of the dreams that once were. The fascinating abandoned remnants are a stark contrast to the natural beauty that can be found around the lake.
