Happy New Year! Best wishes for a prosperous 2007.

So, today's venture to Death Valley is another from the Death Valley Dunes. Taken at sunset from Hwy 190.

The original was not all that inspiring and I was quite disappointed, I wanted the dunes! Unfortunately I didn't have the right lens or setup to really bring the focus to the dunes from the distance we were at. As I spent more time looking at this photo I realized the answer.

I cropped the photo to focus on the dunes, and if you look closely enough you can see two people on top of the leftmost dune. I also thought by converting to black and white the lighting and shadows took prominence, as well as the lines and curves of the sand dunes, almost sensual as they sweep across the desert floor.
