What do you do when there is little color? Add color of course. This was done in camera with a B+W Orange Red 5x filter. Originally I did this in order to set up a black and white conversion, but I thought the effect was pretty cool. Add in the desolate Death Valley landscape and this makes me think what a sunset on Mars would look like. After a full day of shooting in a windy desert it was tough to keep the lens clean and pointing straight at the sun made it impossible to stop the lens flare, so I just went with it.

You can see the glimmer of the salt flats on the valley floor, we spent a lot of time thinking we'd find water, only to find out as we got closer they were miles and miles of salt flats.
