Driving back in to the park on the 394 from Rhyolite we came through Hell's Gate, the eastern entrance to the park. Frustrated by the lack of sun, we witnessed this amazing scene, with the partially blocked setting sun streaming through the clouds that had been our menace for most of the day.

The Panamint Mountains can be seen silhouetted in the background.
