Back in May I decided to take a road trip with Kaiser, a first. I figured he would get a big kick out of running around the lake and enjoying the early May sun while I tooled around with the camera....and besides, he would get a nice long car ride. We made it up to the lake in a decent amount of time stopping along the way to capture some beautiful sites along highway 395. Towards the end of the day I decided to head to the South Tufa Fields and became completely lost. Apparently some folks don't believe in putting up a turnoff sign when you are coming from the main highway. After going 10 miles out of my way and realizing this wasn't quite right I turned around and headed back the way I came, a little pissed at the fact the sun had already gone down and I had left early specifically to catch the damn sunset. Leaving the forest Mono Lake came in to view. I pulled over along the side of the car and quickly pulled out the camera gear. While the sun had gone down the sky was a marvelous orange color and you could see the orange reflection on the lake. Ok, I was still a little pissed to have missed being down at the tufa fields, but the annoynace quickly abated when I finally figured out how to use my new remote switch/timer (as the 10 pitch black photos will attest...it wasn't easy) and snapped off a few pictures of the glorious orange sky and lake.
And how did the road trip go? Well, apparently road trip means sitting in the car and refusing to walk to some folks.
I've just completed a major cataloging project of 4 years and 12,000 or so photographs...so hopefully updates will be more frequent now that I can actually find stuff. Enjoy the week.
